‘It’s been a real pleasure for the Institute and its Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Champions to work with the Institute of Psychiatry team to help them undertake this research and produce this superb new resource. We hope that it will be disseminated and used widely to raise awareness of eating disorders amongst all health professionals working with women in the perinatal period ’ Dr Cheryll Adams CBE, Executive Director, Institute of Health Visiting
Pregnancy can be a difficult time for some women with eating disorders as they experience changes to their weight and shape, and eating disorders can increase the risk of adverse maternal and infant outcomes. Women with eating disorders need tailored advice and support that addresses their specific needs during pregnancy and motherhood.
With input from women, healthcare professionals and key organisations, researchers at King’s College London have co-designed a set of training resources for healthcare professionals that incorporate the latest evidence and clinical guidance, and the perspectives of women with lived experience.
